Pulling out a chair, I take a seat next to Slade, across from Hemy and Stone. “What the fuck, dudes? Stop looking at me like that.”
Slade tilts back his beer and grins like an idiot. “I just can’t get over it, man. Shit.” He takes another drink of his beer, before sliding one over to me. “One day we will be related.”
“Ah, fuck.” I grab my beer and bring it to my lips. “Ain’t that some shit.” I smile and nudge his shoulder. “Related to the fucking man whore. I never in a million years would’ve thought that could be a possibility. Shit is changing, man. Things are becoming real.”
Hemy slaps Onyx on the ass as she stands up, nods at me, and goes to join the other girls. “So what’s the deal,” Hemy asks, before finishing his beer and pushing it aside. “Heard you punched the fuck out of Lynx and quit.”
I nod my head and steel my jaw at just the thought of him trying to steal my woman out from under me. “Yeah, man. He had it coming.”
“Hell yeah, he did,” Stone agrees, tilting his beer to mine. “That asshole deserved it. Now he’s all going crazy and shit, trying to find someone as good as you to take your spot. I mean Kash has been doing pretty good, but I don’t know about this Stax guy. He looks scared as shit. The vultures smell fear. They may very well eat him alive.”
Everyone around the table laughs. It’s crazy how much things have changed over the last few months. I’m proud of every single guy at this table. I’ve never seen any of them happier than what they are right now, and I know for damn sure that I can now say that about myself as well.
Next week I start my management position at The Anchor, a bar that Riley and I can feel comfortable with me working at until I can decide what I really want to do. Slade is settling into his stiff new office job, wearing his suits and shit, Hemy has quit completely at Walk Of Shame and is working full time at his buddy’s mechanic shop. I even heard that Onyx is getting a job with Aspen at the salon and that Sage is working on writing a book or something. Everything in life is fucking good to me. My people are good and so am I.
When I look over at the girls, I catch Riley smiling and looking back over at me while talking to Onyx about something. It makes me feel so damn good seeing her getting accepted by everyone in the group. I even have a feeling that Onyx finds her attractive. As wild as that girl is sometimes, I wouldn’t be surprised if she hasn’t thought about being with my girl. Of course there is one wild couple out of every group. Hemy and Onyx are that for us.
Grabbing my beer, I sit back in my seat and just enjoy this moment for what it is. This is the only group that I would want to be doing this with. My Walk Of Shame family became my real family, and I love all these fuckers to death.
This is all that a man needs to be happy. She is all a man needs to be happy. With these people, my life is fucking perfect . . .
