Bryce drove. He had no idea where, but that didn’t matter. The destination wasn’t the point, the journey was. He took turns and explored and let his bike lead the way.
It was the perfect fucking day.
He kept going, surrounded by nothing but trees, open road and the future, until he saw something ahead of him that looked familiar.
No...it couldn’t be.
He sped up, his bike heading straight for the spot he somehow knew, even though he’d never been here.
He slowed down, and stopped the bike at the crossroads. Left or right, he couldn’t go straight.
“Holy shit,” Nick said behind him, squeezing him tighter. He loved having Nick on his Shovelhead with him. It took a while, but he finally managed to get Nick to ride with him. Nick had said when the Shovelhead was ready, he would be, too. Bryce worked on it more often after that, and Nick helped him sometimes. When she was done, Nick kept his promise, and now here they were.
Bryce smiled. “That’s not what you’re supposed to say here.”
“This is your dream, Bryce. This is it, isn’t it?”
Yeah, it totally fucking was. He should be surprised. It wasn’t every day one of your dreams came true. Somehow he wasn’t surprised, though. It just fit...made everything even more right. “Yep. It’s my dream. That’s still not what you’re supposed to say here.”
Nick chuckled. “You got us lost, didn’t you? I told you to ask for directions. We’re fucking lost.”
Bryce shook his head and smiled. Damn, he loved this man. “Think you’re a funny guy, do you? Say it, Nick. You have to say it.”
Nick squeezed him tighter. “It’s a crossroads, Bryce. Which way are you going to go?” Nick finally repeated the lines from his dream.
“Whichever way you are,” he replied. He’d do anything for his man. Go anywhere. Being with Nick was where he was supposed to be.
“You lead and I’ll follow. I’m right here with you, Bryce. Always.”
“Nah, I don’t need to lead, we’ll go together.” Together, the way they’d done everything since they met. They’d changed their lives together, were happy together, fell in love with each other.
The direction they went in didn’t matter. The only thing that did was the fact that they’d travel the bumpy roads, twists and turns, rises and falls by each other’s sides.
“Let’s go, Bryce. I want to keep riding with you. You show me the world in ways I’ve never seen it. Show me more.” Nick’s hand fisted in Bryce’s jacket.
His pulse sped up. He smiled, squeezed Nick’s hand, and then they rode.
