I’m only half kidding. Just half though.
“I don’t think so…,” he trails off.
“Okay.”
I take my phone with me and text Braxxon as I walk. Even though Rap is calling ZZ, I still think Brax needs to know.
His response was as I thought it would be. Nothing but a string of curses followed by I’m on my way. He never puts spaces between his curse rants when they’re via text and it makes me smile every time because I can just hear his voice actually doing it.
I reach a pretty, blonde woman who looks exactly like Tatiana and is no doubt her mother. She frowns as I approach.
“Where’s my daughter?”
Great, she’s hostile.
“You’ll have to wait for ZZ,” I respond.
“Is that his f**king name now? I haven’t seen him since he lied about his damn age so I’d f**k him.”
This I already know.
“Well yeah. Anyways, he’s on his way and so is Braxxon.”
“Ah, I wonder what Braxxon looks like nowadays. He was so handsome as a teenager.”
Is this child leaving bitch serious?
“He’s still handsome and he’s not available.” I laugh at her.
“No need to get your panties in a twist.” She grins a fake grin.
Just one damn day, it’s always something.
“For me to get my panties in a twist, I would have to be wearing some.”
Take that, you abandoning bitch. Yes, I know I have abandonment issues; I don’t hate my mother. In fact, I love her even though I don’t know her. My father wouldn’t let her take me with her and I know she at least tried. But that subject is still a sore one for me.
ZZ comes rip roaring past us into the compound on his bike and barely has it throttled down and on its kickstand before he makes his way over to the gate where I won’t allow her to enter.
“Mira, what the hell do you want?” ZZ yells.
“Well look at you. Don’t you look delicious?” she coos.
“Cut the shit woman. I haven’t spoken to you in over sixteen years and even then, you didn’t ask about my daughter.”
“I seen the news. How is my daughter?”
“Your daughter? She has never been your daughter, Mira. You didn’t raise her. In fact, do you even know her birthday?” He smirks.
She doesn’t answer and that pisses me off. How in the hell could you forget a date that important. A day you bring another life into the world?
“Dad.” Tatiana walks up to us with Berry at her side.
“Fuck,” he groans.
Why does everyone have such bad timing around this place?
“Hello Tatiana. I’m your mother, Mira.”
“No you’re not. Berry is my only mother,” Tatiana hisses.
“Don’t be silly darling; that woman is your grandmother, nothing more.”
Oh, shit. Where the hell is Braxxon?
“ZZ hunny, you better get this twat out of here before I do something that’ll land me in the gray barred motel,” Berry says calmly.
“My pleasure, Mom.” He smirks, grabbing her elbow and escorting her over the threshold to the compound. He then releases her arm, and walks back over the threshold and enters the code to shut the gate.
“Well that was pleasant,” I joke.
“That dumb bitch.” ZZ shakes his head. “Tatiana you’re eighteen and can do whatever you want but that woman abandoned you because she didn’t want a kid. I hope you make the right decision when it comes to her. She will be back.”
“I want nothing to do with her dad,” Tatiana answers evenly in a serious tone.
“Good,” he replies as the gate reopens. Braxxon enters and he’s on foot. I didn’t even notice his bike was here.
“You walked,” I ask him.
“Yeah I did. Just because I’m a biker doesn’t mean I have to ride it every single time I leave. I saw Mira leave. Did everything go well?”
Well snap my head off why don’t you.
“Baby, don’t look at me like that. I just didn’t wanna ride today. I took a cab because of the reporters and shit. I didn’t want people following me today. My bike is easy to spot.”
“Okay,” I reply still not happy with his answer.
“Everything went just fine, Prez. But she will be back,” ZZ says before walking Berry and Tatiana away.
“C’mon Angel, let’s go to Sated for a bit. You haven’t been back since opening night last week.”
I look down at my clothes and deem them wearable for my club. Hell it wouldn’t matter anyway. It’s Lana’s club and mine. God I miss her. If I didn’t have Braxxon, I don’t think I could survive this. I’d get too lonely.
“Yeah okay.” I take his outreached hand as we walk towards his bike.
“I wasn’t giving you an option baby.” He laughs.
“Watch it, Breaker,” I tease.
The club is quiet and empty, not because there’s no business but because it doesn’t open until five tonight. Braxxon is quiet and in thought. I’m a bit worried as he sits me on the edge of one of my pole stages. He says he’ll be right back and I watch as he walks to the bar and pours him two shots of whiskey and downs them. Okay, so now I’m very worried. He wipes his palms on his jeans as he walks back over to me and kneels down on one knee, pulling a box out of his pocket as his gray eyes latch onto me.
Oh god.
“I don’t think so…,” he trails off.
